Ensuring the quality of the degree programs and their continuous development is of central importance to our university.

Quality management is one of the three pillars of the Didactics, E-Learning, Quality Management staff unit and reports directly to the Vice-Rector for Education.

An institution has been created here at a central level that consistently promotes development in teaching and studies and advises and supports all faculties in the implementation of measures and strategies for quality assurance and further development.

Quality management primarily supports the following processes:

  • New establishment and modification of degree programs,
  • Documentation of the qualitative and quantitative development of degree programs,
  • Implementation of internal accreditations,
  • Systematic evaluations,
  • Identifying and implementing measures for the further d of Wismar University of Applied Sciences, is based on the principles anchored in the mission statement for good teaching and is safeguarded by the regulations for quality in teaching and learning.evelopment of degree programs,
  • Links to university didactics, continuing education and e-learning.

The work of quality management forms the basis for the system accreditation of Wismar University of Applied Sciences, is based on the principles enshrined in the mission statement for good teaching and is safeguarded by the regulations for quality in teaching and learning.

In 2015, Wismar University of Applied Sciences decided to develop and certify a quality management system in order to regain programme accreditation. After we were admitted to the main system accreditation procedure in June 2017, the university was finally awarded system accreditation by the Zentrale Evaluationsagentur Hannover (Central Evaluation Agency Hanover, ZEvA) on November 21st 2018 following two inspections by an external group of experts.

The subject of system accreditation is the review of a university's internal quality management system in the area of teaching and studies. The structures and processes relevant to teaching and studies are examined to determine whether they guarantee the achievement of the qualification objectives and the high quality of the degree programmes, whereby the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ESG), the Model Law Ordinance and the State Ordinance on the Regulation of Study Accreditation of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are applied.

A positive system accreditation certifies that the university's quality assurance system in the area of teaching and studies is suitable for guaranteeing the achievement of qualification objectives and the quality standards of its study programmes. This means that it is checked whether a university is able to ensure compliance with all programme accreditation criteria on a permanent basis through internal and external processes. Study programmes that are established on the basis of system accreditation or have already been the subject of internal quality assurance in accordance with the requirements of the accredited system are therefore accredited.(Cf. Rules for the Accreditation of Study Programmes and for System Accreditation, resolution of the Accreditation Council of 08.12.2009, last amended on 20.02.2013)
