Cooperative Doctorate

Universities of applied sciences such as the Wismar University do not have their own right to award doctorates. Within the framework of a joint doctoral procedure, the doctoral degree is therefore always awarded by a university - or alternatively by another University of Applied Sciences entitled to award doctorates.

In the case of a cooperative doctorate

  • the first evaluation is carried out by a professor of the university,
  • the second evaluation is carried out by a professor from our university.

Supervision takes place according to individual agreements. The doctoral procedure is based on the doctoral regulations of the respective faculty of the university that awards the doctorate. This also applies if a doctoral project is mainly carried out at Wismar University of Applied Sciences. A professor with whom you obtained your Master's degree or with whom you have already worked is a suitable supervisor at Wismar University of Applied Sciences.
