Doctoral Scholarships

The Rector's Office of Wismar University of Applied Sciences announces two doctoral scholarships twice a year:

Fields of specialisation:

  • the scholarships are open to all scientific subjects and topics

Funding conditions:

  • Regular funding period: three years
  • In the event of reasons for which the scholarship holder is not responsible, one-time extension by a maximum of one year upon application
  • Basic scholarship rate: EUR 1,500
  • Pro-rata reimbursement of membership fees for voluntary or private health insurance up to 7.5 per cent of the basic scholarship rate (= EUR 112.50)
  • Family allowances of EUR 150.00 for the first child, EUR 100.00 for each additional child
  • part-time employment up to a maximum of 20 hours per week (0.5 FTE) is permitted - the planned progress of the funded project must be documented annually in an interim report signed by the supervisor at Wismar University of Applied Sciences

State Graduate Funding M-V

The doctoral scholarship for solitary subjects from funds of the State Graduate Funding M-V is awarded once a year in addition to the internal doctoral scholarships of Wismar University of Applied Sciences financed from its own funds.

Subject areas:

  • Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Lighting Design
  • Maritime/Nautical Science

Funding conditions:

  • Standard funding period: three years
  • One-time extension of the funding period by a maximum of six months possible in justified exceptional cases
  • Basic scholarship rate: EUR 1,500.00
  • Family allowance of EUR 150.00 for the first child, EUR 100.00 for each additional child
  • Secondary employment permitted if it is compatible with the project and involves research and teaching at the university for up to ten hours per week or other gainful employment for up to five hours per week

Tip:

The Universities of Rostock and Greifswald offer doctoral scholarships from the State Graduate Funding Programme M-V every semester. Graduates of Wismar University of Applied Sciences with well above-average study and examination results can apply with non-cooperative doctoral projects and have good chances:

"If there are qualified applications from graduates of universities of applied sciences within the meaning of paragraphs 1 to 3, they shall be considered for at least one scholarship" (State Graduate Funding Act § 2 paragraph 4).
