Learning Platforms

Educational platforms have been used for many years to organize everyday study life and make e-learning courses available. We are happy to support you in using the platforms for modern teaching and study administration. That's why, in addition to support, we also offer training courses on how to use the Stud.IP and ILIAS educational platforms as well as the Opencast, Microsoft Teams and BigBlueButton media and communication platforms.

Everything from a single source

The number of tools and functions available to manage everyday learning and teaching is constantly increasing. We have therefore made it our mission to make all services accessible and usable via one platform, namely Stud.IP. Several universities are also taking this approach, which is why many integrations already exist. You can use tools such as Opencast, BigBlueButton, MS Teams or Etherpad from Stud.IP. Behind each of these are their own servers and form a complex interaction. For you as the end user, however, it should be as simple as possible: that is part of our mission.

The next integration will be linking HisInOne to Stud.IP. In future, all teaching-related data will be kept synchronized and up-to-date. The project goal is currently the winter semester 24/25.

A video says more than 1000 words. Or so the saying goes. Objectively speaking, the use of video in teaching has been increasing for years and many didactic course concepts would be unthinkable without it. Over 5000 videos have been uploaded to our Opencast video server in the last two years. Over 90% of these are from teaching and are integrated into Stud.IP via an interface.

Etherpad is a low-threshold program for working synchronously as a group on a text. To do this, activate the Etherpad tab in your Stud.IP course.

Virtual Classrooms

Virtual classrooms using BigBlueButton have a wide range of functions, such as desktop sharing and presentation of files, markers or notes directly in the document, chat, recordings, etc. BigBlueButton is fully integrated into Stud.IP. Make all possible settings for your meeting rooms directly in Stud.IP. To do this, activate the Meetings tab in your Stud.IP course. You can also use BBB for your office hours. When creating consultation hours, simply check the box "Create BigBlueButton rooms for all appointments in this block".

Tests und E-Assessments

ILIAS is the educational platform for tests and assessments as well as for complex learning modules. ILIAS also offers extensive possibilities in the field of mathematics, such as STACK questions. It is therefore used at Wismar University of Applied Sciences primarily for self-tests and e-exams. An LTI connection can be set up for integration into Stud.IP. We will be happy to advise you.

Video Conferences and Collaboration

Microsoft Teams is a component of the Office365 Education program and is therefore available to the university free of charge. With Teams, you can hold online lectures or meetings with up to 250 participants per meeting. Synchronous collaboration on documents is also possible. You can also use MS Teams from within Stud.IP. Advantage: Stud.IP transfers the list of participants to MS Teams. To do this, activate the Meetings tab in your Stud.IP course.

Learning Modules

Learning Modules

With Courseware, you can create learning modules quickly and easily. Text, questions, images and video can be combined in a didactically meaningful way. Start directly from the "Workplace" or activate the Courseware tab in your course. Have you created learning modules with a third-party system and want to integrate them into Stud.IP? No problem: Activate the "Learning modules - HTML" tab.
