Wismar University of Applied Sciences, hmt Rostock and the University of Greifswald (Caspar David Friedrich Institute) each award a Caspar David Friedrich Scholarship once a year on the basis of the Graduate Funding Act (LGFG M-V) of the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to promote outstanding artistic development projects.

Application requirements:

  • Artistic degree from an art academy or a comparable degree programme in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
  • Well above average study and examination results
  • The project must be expected to make an important contribution to the further development of artistic forms and means of expression

Scope of funding:

  • Basic scholarship rate: EUR 1,500.00
  • Family allowance of EUR 150.00 for the first child, EUR 100.00 for each additional child
  • Funding period: Max. one year

Exclusion criteria:

  • Funding from other organisations: The project is already being funded by public or private organisations or has been funded in the past.
  • Funding of a parallel project: Another doctoral or artistic development project is or has already been funded by public funds or by private institutions financed primarily from public funds.
  • Training or vocational introduction: Ongoing training or vocational introduction is not interrupted for the duration of the project.
  • Gainful employment: Gainful employment is pursued that is not compatible with the project, unless it is:
    • an activity in research and teaching at the university for up to ten hours per week, or
    • other gainful employment of up to five hours per week.
