Simulation Platform for Digital Overall System Analysis and Energetic Operational Optimization of Complex Passenger Ship

Source: Wismar University of Applied Sciences

The aim of the project is to develop a digital simulation platform for the thermodynamic analysis and energetic optimization of complex and coupled ship systems.

The objective of the individual project "Simulation and integration of power requirements of ship propulsion during manoeuvring and passage" is the model development and simulation of power requirements during various nautical boundary conditions and their integration into the FMI standard. For this purpose, the ship's movements are to be predicted under various weather and boundary conditions and thus a qualified statement is made about the temporal course of the power demand. In cooperation with the project partners, interfaces will be created in accordance with the FMI standard that determines the load point of the engine from the demand and thus enables targeted control of the residual energies used by the engine in the overall ship system or provide feedback to the crew as to whether only limited resources, such as from hybrid battery systems, are sufficiently available for zero-emission operation.
