For several years now, the Ostinstitut Wismar - an affiliated institute of Hochschule Wismar - has been inviting judges from Central Asia to attend training courses in administrative law and administrative procedural law together with the German Society for International Cooperation (Deutschen Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit - GIZ). This year, judges from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, countries in which independent administrative courts had been established, attended the event.
The course, which is held in Russian, aims to familiarize participants with the adjudication of administrative disputes in Germany and to give them the opportunity to exchange experiences with the application of administrative law in Central Asia. Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Schramm and research assistant Dimitri Olejnik - Wismar Budiness School - will be available on site as competent contacts.
The Rector of our university, Prof. Dr. Bodo Wiegand-Hoffmeister, welcomed the participants and expressed his delight that the Summer School not only serves to further professional training, but also promotes mutual understanding and helps to break down barriers. As a lawyer, he gave a brief insight into the development of German administrative law and referred to different administrative law systems in Europe as examples.
