On 24 April, the Rector of Wismar UAS, Prof. Dr. Wiegand-Hoffmeister, opened a professional training event for judges from Central Asia.

From 24 April 2023 to 5 May 2023, the Ostinstitut/Wismar, together with the Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), is conducting a training course in administrative law and administrative procedural law for judges from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

These countries have recently established independent administrative courts, and the event, which was held in the Russian language, served to familiarise the judges with the adjudication of administrative court disputes in Germany.

In his opening address, the Rector emphasised the importance of international cooperation and mutual professional training and support. Especially with regard to international conflicts, he said, this is a way to promote mutual understanding and break down barriers.
