Prof. Dr. Ali Arnaout, programme director, opened the event at around 10:00 a.m. and accompanied his students throughout the day. The aim of the full-day event was to give students specific ideas for their career planning and career entry shortly before the semester break.
Focus on practical projects
The morning began with presentations by four student project groups who had worked on specific ideas during the project weeks in December 2025. The topics covered were relevant to the future, such as:
- Use of AI tools in career orientation
- Career skills
- International Business Café as a forum for exchange
- International student management consultancy
Application training and alumni experiences
The afternoon was devoted to preparing for application processes. Together with Hans-Martin Helbig, head of the Department of Public Order, Safety and Road Traffic for the district of Northwest Mecklenburg, and successful MIM alumni, participants received practical training on applications, access to the job market and intercultural requirements. The alumni's contributions were incorporated as guest lectures and offered authentic insights.
The event concluded with a stylish etiquette dinner at InnovationPort Wismar, where participants were trained in intercultural etiquette and confident behaviour in a professional context. The international students from over 30 countries were taught by Ms Franka Elsbett-Klumpers. She has over twenty years of professional experience on the international stage, is a certified etiquette trainer and a member of the German Etiquette Society.
A total of around 50 people took part. Career Day impressively demonstrated how academic qualifications and practical preparation go hand in hand.
