From 7 to 11 July 2025, the Department of Maritime Studies, Systems Engineering and Logistics welcomed five scientists from the Institute Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) from Indonesia to the campus in Warnemünde. The aim of the visit was to engage in dialogue about the expansion of joint activities in transnational education and possible cooperation in the area of future doctorates.
The cooperation between Wismar University of Applied Sciences (UAS) and ITS has been in place for 15 years. In addition to a joint Bachelor's degree programme - Marine Engineering - it also includes a Master's degree programme in Marine Engineering and several research projects. Current research activities are focussing on the use of artificial intelligence in educational processes.
During their stay, the members of the ITS also visited the Wismar campus and met with the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Andreas Ahrens, and the designated Vice-Rector for Education, Prof. Dr rer. nat. Marianne Schmolke.
The stay for the guests from Indonesia was rounded off with a guided tour of the historic old town of the Hanseatic city of Wismar and an excursion to Rostock port.
