Corona influence on daily work at European Project Center

It is only obvious that the current protection measures in Germany and Europe have a great influence on the implementation of EU-funded projects with participants from several countries. This does not mean, however, that the project work is completely discontinued - on the contrary. Even before the crisis, we used various digital communication possibilities with our partners. As a result, there were hardly any differences to be noticed in our daily cooperation, except that we are working mainly from home. This is of course different when planning events, trade fairs or even workshops. Here, like all other areas, we are naturally directly affected by cancellations. But here, too, we were able to find solutions relatively quickly, as the following two examples will illustrate:

1) Implementation of an online seminar

Originally, as the European Project Center of the University of Applied Sciences Wismar, we planned and already organized a workshop in the state representation MV in Berlin as part of the SMART_watch project. It soon became clear that this workshop could not be held with participants from the European partner countries. Therefore, the decision was made without further ado to hold an online seminar. The planning required some adjustments as opposed to a physical workshop, but in the end we can speak of a successful online seminar, with over 90 participants from the EU. A number that would hardly have been possible with a physical workshop.

2) Development and implementation of online training

In the project "Connect2SmallPorts" a total of five workshops on blockchain & IoT were planned for the first half of 2020 in the countries Germany, Poland, Sweden, Denmark and Lithuania. In February we were still able to hold the first training in Klaipeda, Lithuania, before the second one in Gdynia, Poland, had to be cancelled. Here, too, we are now using an online-based solution in which we are developing a comprehensive training concept with live broadcasts and VoDs. We have already gained experience in this respect in the CTCC project, where we offered an online training course last year, which is now also being used by the INTERREG programme as a positive example of the current situation.
