Wismar University of Applied Sciences is constantly developing its Corona hygiene plan in conjunction with the Corona test strategy for the protection of teachers and students as well as its staff at all locations. Therefore, there is only a web version, which is clearly structured in menu items. In this way, it is possible to react to the dynamic developments in the infection situation and the therefore constantly changing Corona laws, guidelines and decrees. The Corona hygiene plan contains important key points according to § 36 i.V.m. § 33 of the Infection Protection Act (IfSG). Teaching at Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s universities in winter semester 2021/22 has commenced on site. A corresponding ordinance was put into place by Minister of Science Bettina Martin. "After three semesters of online teaching, it must now be possible to have the winter semester largely take place on campus again. Many students, particularly those in their first semesters, have hardly been able to experience the university from the inside. Furthermore, they had to do without many important social aspects of student life. It is now extremely important for all students, but also for the teaching staff, to be able to return to on-site study formats. I am therefore very pleased that there is agreement with university administrations and student representatives that the winter semester 2021/22 will be organised as a semester in face-to-face attendance", says Martin.
To allow for physical presence, it is necessary to adhere to the principle "vaccinated - recovered - tested" to ensure protection against infection. Face masks covering mouth and nose will also continue to be mandatory in university buildings.

Prof. Dr. Bodo Wiegand-Hoffmeister, Rector of Wismar University of Applied Sciences, emphasises the high vaccination preparedness among students in the city: "Even though Wismar University has been able to adapt well to digital formats due to its special experience with distance and online study programmes, we are now looking forward to the return to on-site teaching and thus to normality. For even high-quality online teaching cannot replace the experience of sharing campus life, which is so important for successful learning. Confirmed by recent surveys, I am very pleased about the far above-average vaccination rate and vaccination willingness among all members of our university. As testing otherwise continues, we can ensure the highest possible level of health protection, so I can look forward to the start of the semester with confidence."
