Getting to the Department of Maritime Studies in Rostock-Warnemünde

Whichever direction you are travelling from, take the train as far as Rostock Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). From here, board the Stadtbahn (S-Bahn) train to take you towards Warnemünde and get off at at the stop “Warnemünde-Werft”. It is then just a three-minute walk to the Department of Maritime Studies.

Should you wish to make a detour to visit the town of Warnemünde, the cruise terminal or the beach, you can either leave the S-Bahn at the

final stop or take one of several bus services departing from the bus stop near the stop marked  “Warenmünde-Werft”.  You can also take the S-Bahn back to the central railway station from the final stop "Warnemünde".

There is a bus service in operation from Lübeck Airport to Lübeck Central Railway Station. Buses and shuttles run directly to Rostock Central Railway Station from Rostock-Laage Airport. Trains run to Rostock Central Railway Station from all other airports.

• Coming from the south, follow the A 19 (E 55) until you get to the junction Autobahnkreuz Rostock-Süd. (Alternatively, you can drive through to the end of the A19 and then use the tunnel subject to a toll charge. Then continue along the urban motorway (B103) towards Warnemünde.)
• Continue your journey along the A 20 (E 22) heading towards Lübeck and then take the exit Rostock-Westtowards Warnemünde.
• Take the B 103 towards Warnemünde (feeder road and later on referred to as  "Stadtautobahn" - urban mororway - by the locals).
• For those coming from the west and the east (e.g. coming from Hamburg), follow the A 20 (E 22) until you reach the exit Rostock-West, towards Warnemünde (B 103). Continue as above.

Recommended parking: First carpark after the place name sign (entrance after car dealership). From here, it is a two-minute walk to the Department of Maritime Studies. Should you wish to combine a visit to the Department of Maritime Studies with a little trip to the beach or to the centre of Warnemünde, these destinations can be reached by various buses leaving from this carpark or also on foot, since they are within easy walking distance.

From Gedser at the southern-most tip of Denmark, the seaport of Rostock can be reached by Scandlines ferries in approx. two hours, departing at two-hourly intervals. Ferries of the shipping company TT-Lines and Scandlines coming from Trelleborg in Sweden take around six hours to reach the seaport of Rostock.
