Here you find tutorials for the registration and deregistration for examinations. (Unfortunately they’re only available in German. If you need any help please don’t hesitate to contact us.)
The date of your deregistration is important:
- Until 1 week before the beginning of the examination period: You can deregister online on LSF. Here you find the tutorial for the deregistration. (Unfortunately it’s only available in German. If you need any help please don’t hesitate to contact us.)
- Until 1 week before the exam date: You have to fill out the form “Rücktritt von der Prüfung” and give it to the Servicepoint. (Unfortunately it’s only available in German. If you need any help please don’t hesitate to contact us.)
- At a later date: You have to fill out the form “Rücktritt von der Prüfung” and give a reason why you want to deregister. This should be a very good reason. Otherwise you have to sit the exam.
If you can’t sit an exam because you’re ill, you’ll need a sick certificate. Fill out the upper part of the form "Formular für den Nachweis der Prüfungsunfähigkeit". (Unfortunately it’s only available in German. If you need any help please don’t hesitate to contact us.) Then you go to a doctor. (Please look also at the question “Is there a university-doctor on the campus?”) The doctor fills out the bottom part of the form. It’s very important that you give this form to the Servicepoint at the same day or the next day but not later. Otherwise it doesn’t count.
If you’re sick at the day when you have to submit your master thesis or at your colloquium you need an official sick certificate. Here are the telephone numbers of the public health officers:
Wismar: Tel.: 03841 3040 5301
Rostock: Tel.: 0381 381 5367
At first you should think about an issue and ask a professor to be your first advisor. Your second advisor can also be a university teacher or a person from a company (If you’re writing your thesis while working in this company). This person has to have a master’s degree or higher.
Please fill out the form “Antrag auf Zulassung zur Master Thesis”. (Unfortunately it’s only available in German. If you need any help please don’t hesitate to contact us or ask your first advisor for help.) Your first advisor has to sign this form. Then you give it to the Servicepoint.
The university informs you if you’re allowed to write your master thesis and about the deadline.
When you have finished your master thesis you submit it to the Servicepoint. This can be made till deadline but not later.
If you need more time to finish your thesis you can make an application. But you’ll need a very good reason for the extension. If you need any help please don’t hesitate to contact us.

General Questions
In Germany is usually no doctor on the campus. In Wismar is a doctor's office on the campus but it doesn't belong to the university. If you want to turn to a doctor you can go to a doctor's office near your flat. In most cases you should turn to a general practitioner. In German it's called "Allgemeinarzt" or "Hausarzt". If you google "Allgemeinarzt Wismar" you see all general practitioners.
The letter is from public service broadcasting in Germany (ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio) and it’s about the licence fee. Everyone in Germany has to pay the licence fee. The licence fee is €17.50 per month and is only paid once per residence. So if you live in a flat share or in a flat in halls of residence with other students, you can share the fee with them. Only one person has to register and pay the fee.
If you receive BAföG, you may be exempted from the licence fee upon application.
If you don’t pay the license fee, you’ll get a written warning. If you don’t pay the fee after this, it’s possible that your bank account will be frozen.
