Mechanical engineering is traditionally, a broadly varied and innovative branch of industry. It is a substantial component of the German economy. In the age of the globalization of science and technology, mechanical engineering needs well trained engineers with specialized technical, social and management authority as well as sense of responsibility for its acting. This requires a high measure of specialized knowledge, creativity, flexibility, capability of cooperativeness and mobility as well as the readiness to learn from the life-experience of other engineers.
The training of Mechanical Engineering at Hochschule Wismar places it's inter-disciplines internationality, as well as close co-operation with the industry. These challenges are met with modern equipped laboratories, flexible study programs, combined with innovative teaching and learning methods including information and communication technologies.
With the introduction of the Bachelor and Master degrees to the Department of Mechanical, Process and Environmental Engineering, the internationalization of training and employment systems is taken into consideration. The principle constants and concepts developed in the Bachelor and Master degrees of Mechanical engineering make new successive sections of education and training as well as making phases for gainful employment possible and improving the possibilities of adapting the university education to the changes of the job market and the requirements of lifelong learning. The Bachelor Thesis is made in Semester 6; the operating time is 10 weeks.
End result: Bachelor of Engineering Average period of study: 6 Semesters Begins: Winter Semester: 1. September
Application: Work in departments of design, production and management for enterprises of mechanical engineering, plant and vehicle construction engineering, work in planning and design offices and engineer's office, public service, and a range of the technical monitoring positions.
Study: Semesters 1 to 3 consist of scientific and scientific-engineering principles. In Semesters 4 to 6, compulsory subjects are continued and students are also obliged to choose major subjects according to their selected direction of application.
